have a peek!..
opening night is coming up very, very soon and we are all pumped!
just a few days ago, we all went in for a full-on 10-hour rehearsal; polishing up the moves for all dances... it was quite a work out! if you are looking for serious fun (a little contradicting, i know)... look no further :) here are some sneak preview of what to expect.
oh, by the way... what you see here is only 10% ( if not less) of what will be on stage. *wink*

2. Get a Tan. Weijun ain't no ghost no more!
3. Drink lots of Soy milk.....
4. Listen to the show music...over and over again....Mental rehearsals!
5. Play E=MC2 at least once a day :-)

Why Kam in your face???
I did a very delightful interview this afternoon and as usual the reporter asked me why..Kam in your face. Well to set the record straight, the name came about when 3 drunk friends were in a particular establishment called Bulldog last year and while sipping thru my whiskey diet coke, I asked the table ..." Damn...I don't even have a name for my show in Actors studio yet..how ah?"
To which a certain Mr Paul Hasham looked at me and blurted " Just call it Joanne Kam lah...in your face " There was silence at the table as I looked at him, he looked at me and we bust out laughing as he reiterated " Ya that's it! Kam...in your face!" and so it was and now it is. So yes, I do have my dear friend Paul to thank for this very becoming title and now everything else will be a string of .........Kamings.
Seeeeee.......alcohol isn't all that bad for you...:)
Besides the title, everything up till now has been hard work one after the other and I personally have been feeling the stress in so many different angle that my body just aches in places that I never knew could ache. Its been quite a journey, from concept to execution and I'm thankful that the cast have been very gung ho about trying on new things.
For me, this is just the beginning of many other things that I would like to explore with in terms of my own capabilities. Cabaret has always been a part of my life, ever since I started performing in Singapore and yes it's a dying art, because every other club in town today would rather pay for an international DJ than a group of talented individuals.
So when I was constantly asked by my public to stage a show of my own, I really wanted it to be a meaningful showcase. So what I did was to blend my old style cabaret with my theater experiences, having learn from productions such as Life Sdn Bhd 2 ( my first theater show ), Broken Bridges and Aladdin.
Next I wanted my show to have a musical influence, not so much broadway or musical theater but to do songs which to me highlighted different aspects of cabaret performances. Songs that are familiar and yet spiced up to make it our very own style. So from the beginning of the show till it ends we will take you on a journey that will leave you kamming for more..:)
So Kam share with us, laugh with us, cry with us and play with us as we tantalize you in a new era of cabaret showcase.

Alrighty peeps, if you haven't purchased your tics yet, you can go get get them at the Actors Studio box office right now. Just call 012 2094 0400/ 1400 to book and pick 'em up at least 3 days before show date. Students, if you flash your valid student ID, you get 20% off. The same discount is applicable to senior Citizens aged 55yrs & above. For the rest of you, if you can find 'em Don't Panic brown packs in selected retail, music, coffee bean outlets & colleges - there's a 20% discount coupon printed on the envelopes. The coupon entitles you to 20% off the ticket price. Ah-huh that's the EP talking.
Now that's been dispense with, this musical comedy cabaret is seriously worth a watch. And i'm not just saying coz i have no finger nails left trying to get this show on the road - with more bling & costume changes than Kimora & PDiddy put together and those sleek pole-dance moves that'll make the boys kam...in their face!! ;P The dancers are at top form, and i must say the actors are the most impressive lot having to memorise so many things at once, not just their lines but the oh so many the dance steps, positioning, song lyrics and all...i would probably have collapse from exhaustion and hospitalized for memory lapse from cramming so many left & right brained stuff all at the same time into my not so tiny brain.
Anyways just kam & watch eh...i'm telling it is really worth your time and effort. Plus if anything - for u righteous lot out there, just put urself one step closer to redemption with the good deed of the day of supporting your local theatre lah coz we'll be doing ours in making laughter the best medicine *ahem* You can thank me later ;T
